Week 5 Mid-Term on Photoshop and Illustrator

This morning the people who were not able to present their power point photoshop images had a chance to do that. I presented my power point and chose a picture of Nicole Richie. There was no point behind what I chose other than for it to be funny. I also chose fast food images and placed them in the picture with nicole. Here is a before and after picture of my photoshop editing. I used the magic wand, magic eraser, smudge, clone, free transform tool to get what I wanted.
We also did our mid-term exam today. We were given specific instructions on what to do on photoshop and illustrator.
For photoshop we had to open up two different pictures from the files Carmen made create different layers use all the tools and then some that we had learned in previous classes and saved the final copies under a new folder and save it as a web image.
For Illustrator we needed to design a logo using the text FUN. I had a more difficult time with Illustrator and did not make and save the layers I needed for each process. I ended up saving the begining image as another file instead of another layer. I was more focused on the design than the instructions on what we were supposed to do. I was not as prepared for Illustrator like I was for Photoshop.
Next time I will be more prepared and even try to take those tutoring classes. I can't afford to fail this class or have a low grade in it.

Week 4- Illustrator

Today was very productive and I loved it. We were able to learn the basics of Adobe Illustrator. We had a picture of a drawn contoured house and we applied colors and text to the picture as well as spacing our letters to how we want them. We used the brush and pen tools for tracing and filling. We learned to apply colors to our images as well. I thought everything went well today.

Week 3-Picture Manipulation in Photoshop

Notes in Class

  • When I create a file in Photoshop I learned to set up my preferences correctly.
  • When we create a mode we go into image and there are all the preferences.
  • The standard mode for web images will be RGB. CYNK is printing images, Grayscale to disreguard color and make a picture black and white.
  • Size-the resolution image size for standard measure is 72 PPI(Pixels Per Inch). Anything that goes above 120PPI will be an image resolution for print work.
  • Raster vs. Vector images- Each 0 and 1 contains a Bit. Every 0 and 1 contains a main ingredient called pixels. A combo of bits and pixels are called a Bit Map Image, which goes to raster image. Based on lines and dots-pixels and compositions-vector image. best application for a vector is Illustrator.
Saved it under JPEG. You now have a PSD file and JPEG.

Today we learned to crop images, duplicate them, use our filters and make our images more real and appealing. The design of the tiles on the floor of the picture have been duplicated and filtered and had shadows put in them. We resized them and learned how to use the magic wand tool to crop out specific images that we wanted to omit. We also used another picture which is the background. We went to Select-Load Selection-Chanel-Arches Layer-Layer Mask and then Reveal Selection. Which brought us to the ocean for the background. This is the finished product on the left

This image is also what we worked on. The only thing we did with this picture is learn to resize our pictures and we learned about pixels and canvas sizes.

Todays class was okay. There were a few problems with some peoples computers and some people weren't catching on. So there was alot of time just waiting. But I tried to take that time and learn more of what I could with what we just did. We worked more on Photoshop today and in a small amount of time we learned alot. So I hope I am able to remember most of it if not all.

week two-photoshop

Today we learned the basics like how to open photoshop and dreamweaver. How to save files and what to save them under. I thought photoshop was easy and it does help if you knew how to use it before. I taught myself how to use photoshop so having someone teach you the right way to use it was helpful and informative. I have never used dreamweaver so Im glad we we're able to at least get familiar with the basics. Which is helpful. Todays class was pretty easy and I dont think I'll have a problem remembering these basics. This image is what we worked on in photoshop and how to apply text to the image, how to crop the image and so forth.

week 1/my first class

I'm actually looking foward to this class this quarter. Hoping to develop more knowledge with each program and I'm so glad its hands on work. Which is the easiest way for me to learn. Along with many others who can agree with me. After knowing the basics it seems that it can only get better. Where you can start getting creative with your work cause you'll actually know how to do everything. Well we'll see how it goes.
