Week 3-Picture Manipulation in Photoshop

Notes in Class

  • When I create a file in Photoshop I learned to set up my preferences correctly.
  • When we create a mode we go into image and there are all the preferences.
  • The standard mode for web images will be RGB. CYNK is printing images, Grayscale to disreguard color and make a picture black and white.
  • Size-the resolution image size for standard measure is 72 PPI(Pixels Per Inch). Anything that goes above 120PPI will be an image resolution for print work.
  • Raster vs. Vector images- Each 0 and 1 contains a Bit. Every 0 and 1 contains a main ingredient called pixels. A combo of bits and pixels are called a Bit Map Image, which goes to raster image. Based on lines and dots-pixels and compositions-vector image. best application for a vector is Illustrator.
Saved it under JPEG. You now have a PSD file and JPEG.

Today we learned to crop images, duplicate them, use our filters and make our images more real and appealing. The design of the tiles on the floor of the picture have been duplicated and filtered and had shadows put in them. We resized them and learned how to use the magic wand tool to crop out specific images that we wanted to omit. We also used another picture which is the background. We went to Select-Load Selection-Chanel-Arches Layer-Layer Mask and then Reveal Selection. Which brought us to the ocean for the background. This is the finished product on the left

This image is also what we worked on. The only thing we did with this picture is learn to resize our pictures and we learned about pixels and canvas sizes.

Todays class was okay. There were a few problems with some peoples computers and some people weren't catching on. So there was alot of time just waiting. But I tried to take that time and learn more of what I could with what we just did. We worked more on Photoshop today and in a small amount of time we learned alot. So I hope I am able to remember most of it if not all.
